Introduction

In March of 2009 a novel strain of swine origin influenza A (H1N1) virus was detected in Mexico. It has now spread to the rest of the world. With over 170,000 laboratory-confirmed cases worldwide, the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared a global pandemic.

Body

Influenza, often called the flu, is an acute, highly contagious infection of the respiratory tract which commonly occurs in the winter.

Influenza usually appears in epidemic form and affects many people at once. Although it affects all age groups, the highest incidence occurs in school children. The greatest severity is in young children, elderly people, immunosuppressed people, and those with chronic diseases.

The most common complication of influenza is pneumonia, which can be primary influenza viral pneumonia or secondary to bacterial infection.

Influenza results from different strains of the influenza virus. This virus has the ability to mutate into different forms. That is why although you were exposed to similar strains in the past, you might not be able to defend yourself against a new one. The infection is transmitted by inhaling a respiratory droplet from an infected person or by indirect contact, such as drinking from a contaminated glass.

Influenza flu virus illness symptoms, aspirin treatment effects fever, cells, immune system, lungs, mucus causes viral pneumonia.

Influenza flu virus is an highly contagious illness that effects the respiratory tract and lungs and caused by viruses. Influenza causes mild to severe illness, and in some may lead to death. Influenza is caused by a different virus than the common cold, produces much more severe symptoms, and only affects the lining of the lungs. Outbreaks of influenza occur during late autumn or winter and affects people of all ages.

The symptom of influenza is the same as regular flu like fever, headache, Muscle or joint pains, fatigue. Lack of appetite, Runny nose, Sore throat, Sore throat some cases have reported diarrhea, nausea and vomiting.

The main treatment for influenza is to rest adequately, drink plenty of fluids, and avoid exertion. Normal activities may resume 24 to 48 hours after the body temperature returns to normal, but most people take several days to recover. Amantadine and rimantadine are effective against type A only. When taken within 2 days of illness onset, prescription anti-viral drugs can reduce the duration of uncomplicated influenza. For most people influenza is an upper respiratory tract infection that lasts several days and requires symptomatic treatment only. Within days, the person’s body will eliminate the virus. Antibiotics, such as penicillin, which are designed to kill bacteria, cannot attack the virus.

Vaccination is the principal measure for preventing influenza and reducing the impact of epidemics. Various types of influenza vaccines have been available and used for more than 60 years. They are safe and effective in preventing both mild and severe outcomes of influenza. The vaccine is made by purifying proteins from three different strains of the influenza virus. Because influenza viruses are continuously mutating to avoid our immune systems, new vaccines are made up every year

There are two types of influenza vaccine in which is the "flu shot"— an inactivated vaccine (containing killed virus) that is given with a needle, usually in the arm. The flu shot is approved for use in people older than 6 months, including healthy people and people with chronic medical conditions. And the second is the nasal-spray flu vaccine — a vaccine made with live, weakened flu viruses that do not cause the flu (sometimes called LAIV for “live attenuated influenza vaccine” or FluMist®). LAIV (FluMist®) is approved for use in healthy* people 2-49 years of age who are not pregnant.

Conclusion

The researchers therefore say that Influenza A (H1N1) Virus is very dangerous illness because if it will not be prevented this may be lead to death. There is nothing to worry about because with exact information about it surely it will be prevented. There are some treatment to influenza A (h1N1) virus just like the influenza vaccine which is very effective and safe. Be aware of influenza A (h1n1) virus, “An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure”.
